Mr. Cjay B. Soliven, instructor of the College of Fisheries passed the National Assessment for Trainers Methodology I at Technical Educational Skills Development Authority- Pangasinan Technological Institute (TESDA- PTI), Binmaley Pangasinan last November 19, 2021.

Mr. Soliven was the lone recipient of Training for Workers Scholarship Program (TWSP) in the region. He attended the Trainers Methodology Level I: Trainer/ Assessor in accordance to Technical -Vocational Trainer (TVET) standards from July 01, 2021 – August 20, 2021 under flexible mode of learning.

After the training, Mr. Soliven was able to develop a Competency Based Learning Materials (CBLM) for Aquaculture NC II and received certificate of achievement on Plan Training Session, Facilitate Learning Session, Utilize Electronic Media, Maintain Training Facilities, Supervise Work- Based Training, and Conduct Competency Assessment.

In an interview with Mr. Soliven, he mentioned that his primary drive in obtaining TM Level I is to open the provision of fisheries qualifications and appropriate competencies to Bachelor of Science in Fisheries students especially in the field of aquaculture.

“I am grateful that TESDA- PTI has chosen me to be one of recipients of TWSP under flexible mode of learning. During the training, I was able to obtain the core competencies as trainer and assessor for my qualification which is Aquaculture NC II despite the uncertain times of Covid 19 -Pandemic. There are a lot of sacrifices and challenges during the training but I never give up because I believe that i can use this opportunity to empower more our students in the college who are enrolled in aquaculture subjects by giving them appropriate competencies specifically on the conduct pre-operation aquaculture activities, preparation and maintenance of aquaculture facilities, operation of fish nursery and performing fish or shrimp grow-out operation. Aside from aquaculture, I will be also obtaining other National Qualifications like Fish Capture, Fishing Gear and Repair and maintenance, fish port Operation, Seaweeds Production and Fish Processing to cover the other fields of fisheries to make our graduates competent,” Mr. Soliven shared during a short interview.

Mr. Soliven is now processing his National TVET Trainers Certificate (NTTC) and applied for loading at TESDA Accredited Centers to perform the functions of a TESDA Certified trainer/ assessor.
