DMMMSU through the Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) entered into agreement with Aringay LGU and Tanggol Kailkasan, Inc. (TK) for the implementation of Ridge to Coast Greening Project.
This environmental engagement aims to empower local environmental organizations in area of environmental governance, increase green spaces through planting and nurture of mangroves, bamboo, bitaog, talisay and other local tree species, and improve environmental integrity.
TK Executive Director, Atty. Ma. Ronely D. Bisquera-Sheen, and DMMMSU President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on 17 November 2021. On 18 November 2021, Aringay Municipal Mayor, Hon. Eric O. Sibuma, signed the MOA and he committed to fully support the project as this strengthens environmental governance in the municipality.
MOA signing at DMMMSU was witnessed by Dr. Cynthia Rodriguez, Vice-President on Research and Extension; Dr. Violeta Collado, NLUC Extension Unit Head; and IEG Faculty Trainers headed by Mr. Celso H. Jucutan, IEG Coordinator.
This eco-initiative forms the Area Specific Action Plan (ASAP) which was formulated by the participants during the environmental governance webinar series last December 2020-January 2021 organized by IEG.
This is funded by “Environmental Justice Sector Reform in the Philippines Project” (EJSRP), supported by US Department of State-Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and US Department of Interior thru the International Technical Assistance Program (US DOI ITAP). (CHJ)
