DMMMSU-Open University System (DOUS) virtually celebrated its birth as an academic unit of DMMMSU 25 years ago. The program, tagged as ‘Aldaw ti Pammadayaw’, was attended in by University Officials, DOUS faculty members, and staff, tutors, students, alumni, and other stakeholders.

DOUS held a month-long anniversary celebration coined as ‘25 Special Moments with Open University System’. This highlighted the growth and achievements of the Unit.

Students with successful businesses were featured through the ‘5 Negosyo Tips’. Meanwhile, alumni attesting the quality of distance education they receive from DOUS were featured in the ‘10 Success Stories of DOUS Alumni Graduates’. Also, tutors establishing their roles in molding a globally competitive students were highlighted in ‘10 Real Talks’. The alumni were also engaged through the ‘Alumni Zoomcoming’. These activities were showcased weekly in the OUS Kapihan sa DMMMSU.

President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr.; VP Estrella N. Perez; former Executive Directors namely Dr. Concepcion L. Bederio, Dr. Remedios M. Corpuz, Dr. Ophelia RL. Cardenas, and Dr. Joanne C. Rivera; Founding Fathers namely Hon. Jose de Venecia, Jr., Dr. Manuel T. Corpus, Executive Director of AACCUP and former President of DMMMSU; Hon. Victor Francisco C. Ortega; Atty. Benjamin P. Sapitula, former President of DMMMSU; Prof. Ojat Darojat, Asian Association of Open Universities (AAOU) President; and other invited guests who shared their onsite and offsite messages graced the occasion. In their messages, the dignitaries extended their words of thanks to the men and women behind the successes of the unit through the years. They also extended their well wishes for the Open University System in its quest for providing more global opportunities under the leadership of its new Executive Director, Dr. Cristita G. Guerra.

The anniversary was also celebrated with Mass offered by Rev. Fr. John Joel L. Templa, SVD, University Chaplain. (Lher Verell S. Palabay)
