To ensure in depth understanding of ISO 9001: 2015 risk-based thinking, risk management methodology, and assessment and evaluation of potential risks by auditors and process owners in the University, the Internal Quality Assurance System Unit of the University facilitated a risk management training which was held via Zoom on July 26 to 27, 2021.

About 90 participants composed of top managers, internal quality auditors, IQA observers, IQAS facilitators, faculty members with accreditation experiences, and librarians participated in the training.

The first day was devoted to discussions on risk-based thinking and on the crafting of risk registry by the learning service provider, Ms. Mary Glory Caunin from the JBDC Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Consultancy.

On the second day, selected participants were asked to present risk registries. Risk registries on the following areas were presented: library services by Ms. Sheena Pardilla and Ms. Ruby Lyn Narra, medical services by Dr. Maria Conseulo W. Alcantara, IQAS by Dr. Raymund Dilan, and planning by Engr. Rowel M. Munar. Ms. Caunin patiently listened to all the presenters and helped them improve each of their registries.

Ms. Caunin underscored the importance of identifying risks to reduce ‘waste’ if not to prevent its occurrence. (Ayu)
