To help mitigate the challenges of sedentary work, DMMMSU through the College of Education-SLUC launched Project A.R.N.I.S. (Arnis as a Recreation and National In-Service Self Defense) Training last June 17-18, 2021.

Dr. Rissa Banana, the University Coach for Arnis and project leader, tapped the expertise of Mr. Paulo O. Motita II, EdD Senior Education Program Specialist of the Bureau of Learners Support Services School Sports Division of DepEd Central Office, Pasig City.

Aside from security training, the participants were taught how to improve their fitness and were encouraged to take up healthy lifestyles. The two-pronged feature of Arnis in encouraging physical activity and self-protection during these weary times cannot be discounted, especially with the need to defend oneself from health and security related issues.

Mr. Edwin Sabangan, one of the participants in the training, shared his experience.
