To help combat the rising mental health issues that surface due to the pandemic and the abrupt and unprecedented changes in workplaces, DMMMSU has initiated the online training on “Mental Well-Being in the Workplace”.

Catering to 300 participants in the entire University, the said training has taken off in the South La Union Campus.

One-hundred (100) participants were trained on April 15 to 16. The same training will be conducted in the North La Union Campus on May 3 to 4, and in the Mid La Union Campus on June 3 to 4, 2021.

Topics included in the training are the following:

  • Introduction to mental health,
  • Mental health continuum
  • Importance of Mental well-being in the workplace
  • Effect of COVID-19 pandemic related stress and effect on mental health well-being, and creating a positive workplace.

Mr. Dominic Torralba Paguio, who is currently working as the private Special Education and Expressive arts and mental health practitioner, served as served as the learning provider.

He used to run TW Community Enablers, a center catering to the transition needs of adolescents and adults with special needs. He is a former faculty member of the University of the Philippines Manila College of Nursing and currently teaching part time at the Assumption College San Lorenzo. He is a registered nurse and licensed professional teacher with trainings in Focusing Oriented Expressive Arts Therapy from the Focusing Institute in California and a Certified Therapeutic Arts Life Coach. He is a noted speaker on Expressive arts therapy, resilience, special education and Mental Health Psychiatric Nursing here and abroad.

The said webinar is part of the series of trainings provided for by the University from GAA Funds amounting to 12.1M pesos. (Ayu)
