To implement the Standard Operating Procedures of the Records Office in the entire university, the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – Mid La Union Campus (DMMMSU-MLUC) Records Office and Management Information System (MIS) conducted an Orientation and Hands-on Training on Records Management System (RMS) for University Records Officer and Campus Records Officers last March 9, 2021 at the College of Information Technology (CIT).

In the letter of the University President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. to MLUC Chancellor, Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz, the President commends the good practice of the Campus in Records Management, specifically on the use of a computer-based document tracking system. He also requested the campus to conduct a training on the use of the RMS.

During the training, different topics were given by various speakers: Role of Documents Control Custodian (DCC) by Dr. Lilito D. Gavina (Planning and Development Director); System Requirements and Installation of the RMS by Prof. Eusebio L. Mique, Jr., (Campus MIS Head) and Mr. Ivan Arjay S. Alicante, (Campus MIS Computer Programmer); and How to Use the RMS by Mr. Arturo C. Flores, (Campus Records Officer).

In an interview with Mr. Flores, he said that since 2014, the campus has been using the RMS developed by the MIS Unit through the leadership of the former head, Dr. Alvin R. Malicdem, and the former CIT Dean, Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz.

The system designed for the MLUC Records Office in managing incoming and outgoing communications of the campus was created last 2011 as a research project of the MIS Unit. The project is being improved from time to time, and with the approval of Chancellor Corpuz, the system is presently employing QR Code scanning which helped in the realization of the University’s goal of being ISO certified. With this, the University shall adopt the Records Management System developed by the Mid La Union Campus.
