True to their commitment of helping DMMMSU in its establishment of Metals and Engineering Innovation Center (MEIC), the Department of Science and Technology – Metals Industry Research and Development Center (DOST-MIRDC) in Region I through its Director, Dr. Armando Q. Ganal, delivered 10M-peso worth of equipment for the said Center at DMMMSU-MLUC on March 5, 2021.

The equipment delivered for MEIC include Hydraulic Press Brake, Hydraulic Sheering Machine, Sheet Metal  Roller, Tig Welding Machine, Plasma Cutter, and Electric Hoist (2T).

MEIC is a facility that will enable DMMMSU to design and fabricate machineries and equipment, supporting the requirements of the agricultural and industrial companies in the region. Also, it supports partnerships in research and development, and in providing machine prototyping needs of the industry.

To expand MEICs in the country, DOST through the Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) allotted funds for MEICs in Regions 1, 2, 3, 10, and the Cordillera Administrative Region. Among these five regional pilot centers, DMMMSU is first to be provided said equipment.

The Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC), an agency of the Department of Science and Technology, is the sole government entity directly supporting the metals and engineering industry with services designed to enhance its competitive advantage. (Ayu)
