IQA Auditors gear-up for more audit tasks Posted on by Maricon C. Viduya
To prepare themselves to carry out more audit work, DMMMSU Internal
Quality Assurance (IQA) auditors attended in the Training on Skills
Upgrading for Auditors at San Juan, La Union on December 22-23, 2020.
Stating the purpose of the training, Dr. Estrella N. Perez,
ISO Manager of DMMMSU and VP for Administration, emphasized that such training
is needed primarily to comply with one of the opportunities for improvement
identified by Shahid Mushtaq, external auditor, during the Stage 2 ISO
Certification Audit on November 19, 2020.
Topics discussed on the first day include the following:
Overview of Quality Management System and
Principles of Audit
Managing an Audit Program
Coordinating Management System Audit
Guidance on Evaluating the Compliance of those
involved in the Audit Process
The second day was devoted to workshops. The participants, grouped according to their Units, first prepared Audit Plans on a particular scope they each identified. In addition, they drilled on report preparation. Also, they were asked to analyze and determine whether sample cases show a nonconformance or an opportunity for improvement. Presentation and critiquing of outputs followed each of the workshops.
To conclude the training, the participants took a 40-point written examination which evaluates their knowledge and skills on ISO 9001:2015 standards.
Learning Service Providers from DTI-RO1 namely Engr. Marissa T. Nonesa, Engr. Jonathan J. Laroza, and Mr. Hermogenes Armando Zaldy Z. Zafra, Jr. served as the resource persons and trainers for two days. They generously shared tips, resources, and lessons from their actual experiences as ISO internal auditors of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
The participants were one in acknowledging that the training
further equipped them to carry out their critical role as IQA auditors. As
auditors, they are to conduct internal audits twice a year and also special
audits as necessary.
These auditors were selected based on their trainings on ISO
9001:2015, their accreditation/audit experiences, and their passing a written
examination on ISO 9001:2015. They were immediately immersed in the actual
internal audit tasks to help prepare process owners for the first party and
second party ISO 9001:2015 audits in October and November, respectively, this
year. (Ayu)
