The whole University went rejoicing upon hearing Shahid Mushtaq’s declaration that DMMMSU passed the Stage 2 Certification Audit, making November 19, 2020 a historic day for DMMMSU.

Overjoyed about the University’s passing the certification audit, President Manuel gestures victory and rejoicing. Before the closing meeting, he had given back “all praises to the Lord” along his message thanking the whole University via the Administrative Council GC.

The Stage 2 Certification Audit was conducted virtually by Shahid Mushtaq (Lead Auditor), and Eugene Librado and Rex Villaverde (Auditors) of ACS W3 Solutionz in accordance with the requirements of ISO 9001:2015 standards on November 17 to 19, 2020. The audit scope is the provision of instruction, research, extension, and support services.  Overall, 24 processes were audited.

The following are the objectives of Stage 2 Certification Audit:

  • Ensure that any findings ruled during the Stage 1 audit have been satisfactorily addressed by the University; thus, ensuring adequacy with the relevant requirements of the standard involved,
  • Assess the extent and effectiveness of the management’s demonstration of leadership in respect of the Management System’s integration into normal business activities and the importance of conformance to the requirements of the Management System throughout the organization,
  • Assess the extent and effectiveness of implementation of the Management System in all areas, activities, functions of the organization as defined within the documented scope of the organization and as identified within the applied for scope certification,
  • Assess the appropriateness of defined objectives and the apparent adequacy of the documented plans for how such objectives shall be achieved,
  • Assess the process of the Management System that are intended to ensure that continual review and improvement of the Management System itself and evaluate the extent to which these can be expected to be effective in the future,
  • Assess the overall level of conformance of the Management System to the requirements of the relevant Standard, and
  • Performance as regards legal compliance, operational control of processes, policies, links between the normative requirements, policy, performance objectives and targets, any applicable legal requirements, responsibilities, competence of personnel, operations, procedures, performance data and internal audit findings and conclusions.

The Stage 2 audit involved examination of processes/activities against ISO criteria, interview and discussions with process owners, review of data and records related to the level of performance of the activities involved against required/expected outcomes, and review and audit of personnel’s and competencies and the implementation of Management System requirements.

Before the closing meeting with Shahid Mushtaq, President Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. had already extended his thanks to everyone’s cooperation via the Administrative Council’s GC. “Praise be to the Lord. This is another milestone for our beloved University,” he remarked. After the closing meeting where Shahid announced his team’s audit observations and some opportunities for improvement, and that DMMMSU passed the Stage 2 Certification Audit, he further quipped: “This is a step towards our journey to becoming a globally competitive University.”

Dr. Estrella N. Perez, Vice President for Administration and DMMMSU ISO Manager, was teary-eyed in expressing her thoughts: “To all of you, thank you so much for your sacrifices and your love for DMMMSU. Our passing the ISO Certification 9001:2015 is a great history in the University. To everyone, let’s continue loving DMMMSU and mabuhay tayong lahat!

After this stage of certification audit, DMMMSU will undergo a 2-year surveillance, after which, re-certification follows. (Ayu)
