Fifteen (15) NARTDI researchers and extension workers and 3 Research Assistants attended trainings on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and the use of statistical tools at the Institute Conference Hall, DMMMSU, Bacnotan, La Union on October 26, 2020.
Engr. Rubelyn V. Delfin, University IP Coordinator; Engr. Rowel M. Munar, NARTDI Division Head for Planning and Resource Development; and Engr. Roel D. Supsup, Faculty Member of Institute of Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering (IABE) served as resource persons.
Engineers Delfin and Munar who recently completed the 3rd IP Master Class Mentorship Series, shared their knowledge on what IP is and how to register technology or information generated from researches. They taught the participants on how to conduct prior art search, draft claims and specifications, and other fundamentals of IPR.
On the other hand, Engr. Supsup trained the R&E staff on how to analyze research data using statistical tools such as STAR and IPSS. Exercises were also given in order to acquaint the participants with the use of software. Engr. Supsup highlighted the importance of knowing how to properly use such tools by demonstrating how to generate the best results out of data gathered, without manual computations and to minimize miscalculations.
These trainings were the concluding capability enrichment activities set for the month-long celebration of NARTDI’s 19th Founding Anniversary. (RMPajarillo)
