Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) seized three-peat victory at the 2025 State Colleges and Universities Athletic Association – Region 1 (SCUAA-1) Regional Games, held in Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), Batac City, Ilocos Norte on February 24-28, 2025.

DMMMSU defended its title with force, outperforming the other four state universities and colleges in the region, namely, Mariano Marcos State University MMSU, Pangasinan State University (PSU), University of Northern Philippines (UNP), and Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC). DMMMSU Stingers captured 127 gold, 73 silver, and 87 bronze medals. MMSU Stallions followed in second with 113 gold, 146 silver, and 91 bronze medals. University of the Northern Philippines (UNP) Sharks secured third place with 70 gold, 59 silver, and 85 bronze medals.

Pangasinan State University (PSU) Golden Lions grabbed fourth place, earning 50  gold, 41 silver, and bronze. Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) Panthers rounded out the top five with 13 gold, 54 silver, and 99 bronze.

Dominating the track and field, DMMMSU Stingers solidified their athletic prowess with the men’s team clinching an impressive eighth consecutive championship title. Not to be outdone, the women’s team showcased their strength and skill, securing a remarkable three-peat victory, further cementing DMMMSU’s reign in athletics.

DMMSU Stingers also finished as the three-peat champions in Arnis Men and Women, Badminton Women, Basketball Women, and Volleyball Women, and locked up back-to-back championships in Baseball.

DMMMSU has cemented its place at the top, proving that its reign as the region’s sports powerhouse is far from over. (by Gloeduard G. Milanes)
