Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University’s North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) held a two-day training on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Research and Extension (R&E), at the International Convention Center on February 3-4, 2025.  Faculty members participated in the professional development activity while students engaged in modular learning.

The training commenced with a focus on research, led by Prof. Keneth G. Bayani, Director of Research, who presented on Research SOPs and Forms.  Afternoon workshops allowed faculty, grouped by college/institute, to collaboratively develop research program proposals, which were subsequently presented by their respective deans and directors.

Day two concentrated on extension procedures.  Prof. Gregory B. Viste, Director of Extension, addressed Extension SOPs and Forms, followed by Prof. Rodolfo G. Nillo, Coordinator for Planning and Budget, who covered budget, monitoring, and evaluation. Dr. Maria Elaine P. Boguen, Head of NLUC Extension, concluded the morning with a lecture on training protocols.  Similar to day one, the afternoon consisted of collaborative workshops culminating in proposal presentations by Deans and Directors.

This training underscores NLUC’s commitment to advancing research and extension excellence.  By establishing standardized procedures and fostering collaboration, the campus is positioned to enhance its academic and community engagement.  The developed proposals provide a foundation for future research and extension initiatives, promising meaningful impact both within the university and the broader community.
