Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) held a Strategic Planning Workshop at Ortega Marine Educational Center (OMEC), DMMMSU – North La Union Campus, Balaoan, La Union, on February 6, 2025.

The event, DMMMSU Strategic Planning Workshop/Writeshop Series: Visionary Target Setting for the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan, brought together Top Management, University Officials, Executive and Function Directors, and other key stakeholders with an objective of developing measurable and achievable targets for the upcoming five-year period.

Dr. Priscilo P. Fontanilla, Jr., the Vice-President of Planning and Development (VPPD), initiated the proceedings following a message by Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr., the University President. In his message, Dr. Manuel underscored the necessity for the outputs to reflect the administration’s commitment to making DMMMSU a world-class university.

The one-day workshop facilitated meaningful discussions among participants, organized into groups focusing on academic services, research, extension, and governance and management. Prof. Laiza A. Niduaza, Director of Instruction, and Dr. Angelina T. Gonzales, Vice President for Research Development and Innovation, presented the outputs from their respective groups.

Prof. Lilito D. Gavina, the Vice President for Administration and Quality Assurance, concluded the workshop by emphasizing that the targets must be Transformational, Aspirational, Resilience-driven, Globally–competitive, Excellence-oriented, and Technology-driven.

The workshop was organized by the Office of Planning and Development under the leadership of Dr. Priscilo P. Fontanilla, Jr., VPPD, along with Charlie C. De Vera, Roy N. Laquidan, Mary Jane B. Dulay, and Marissa R. Fangon as lead facilitators. Also, Rowel Munar, Pura S. Obille, Andrea Amor L. Dimalibot, Gladys Grace G. Cortes, Mars Rivera, Francison Rabelas, and Mia Rosely B.
