The Quality Assurance Office, headed by Atty. Kate C. Potingan-Licay, also the concurrent Director of Internal Audit, conducted “Awareness Seminar on DMMMSU Quality Management System” among the newly-hired personnel across all campuses and units of the University. The seminar was held at the International Convention Center, DMMMSU – North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union on October 18, 2024.

As part of the University’s endeavor in upholding service excellence and in line with the preparations for the ISO 9001:2015 recertification, the seminar aimed at providing the participants substantial foundation in quality management principles and the standards required for effective implementation of ISO 9001:2015 (Quality Management System). The seminar sought to enhance the understanding of key concepts such as customer focus, leadership engagement, process approach, and continuous improvement among staff and faculty members.

Dr. Emmanuel J. Songcuan, SLUC Head of QA, welcomed the participants by emphasizing that QMS is a responsibility vested to each University personnel regardless of rank and designation. “DMMMSU takes part in this great responsibility in nation building,” Dr. Songcuan added, pertaining to the greater goal of being certified and accredited.

Dr. Anny Ross A. Bayan, NLUC Head of QA, introduced Mr. Melchizedek A. Viluan of Macro Vision Consultancy, citing the organization’s reputation in ISO certification preparations for decades.

During the seminar proper, Mr. Viluan engaged the participants in a comprehensive analysis of the provisions and clauses of the ISO 9001:2015 through the Plan-Do-Act-Check mechanism. He provided key insights in aligning University practices to conform with the ISO standards.

During the open forum, Mr. Viluan shared practical pieces of advice to the participants.

Dr. Genevieve C. Cadaoas, MLUC Head of QA, pounded on upholding high quality standards for the realization of DMMMSU as a globally competitive university, over and beyond the dates of visit and certification.

By equipping staff with the necessary knowledge and skills, the University aims to create a cohesive environment where quality management practices are embedded in everyday operations.

The University is set for ISO 9001:2015 Recertification from November to December 2024. (by Gloeduard G. Milanes)
