The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) – Open University System (DOUS) conducted “Training on Records Management” among 96 participants from various agencies as part of its Continuing Professional Education (CPED) program held at the DOUS Multi-purpose Hall, City of San Fernando, La Union and DMMMSU Mid-La Union Campus College of Arts and Sciences Audio-Visual Room on September 23-24, 2024.
The training aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of employees from various government and private institutions in handling records management. Facilitated by key resource speakers, the sessions provided a comprehensive understanding of administrative office procedures, the National Archives of the Philippines Act, and records digitization.
On Day 1, participants were welcomed by Dr. Romeo C. Opeña Jr., the Training Chief of DOUS CPED program, along with Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, Executive Director of DOUS. Mr. Arturo C. Flores, a seasoned resource speaker, led the morning sessions with discussions on administrative office procedures, the National Archives Act, and the importance of good housekeeping in workplace management. Participants actively engaged in hands-on workshops during the afternoon, reinforcing their understanding of the concepts.
Day 2 commenced with a session on records digitization, e-governance, and risk management presented by Dr. Genevieve C. Cadaoas. The workshop sessions provided opportunities for the participants to apply what they had learned through presentation of action plans.
As the program concluded, participants expressed their appreciation for the knowledge gained and were awarded certificates during the closing program.
Trisia Irish D. Cacanindin from the Office of the Executive Director, served as the master of ceremonies for the event.
With the success of the training, DMMMSU-DOUS reaffirmed its role in offering relevant and up-to-date professional development programs to equip employees with vital skills in today’s increasingly digital workplace. (by Prof. Claudia Denise P. Barbadillo)
