The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University community joined the conduct of the Third Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) 2024, today, September 26 at exactly 9 a.m.

The community practiced the “Duck, Cover, and Hold” and exited their respective classrooms and offices towards the designated strategic holding areas.

Mr. Randolph I. Navasca, University Director of Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Services thanked the whole community for their active involvement.

DRRM Officers, Safety Officers, ERT, and focal persons from each unit served as facilitators and conducted simulation activities.

The Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) monitored and evaluated the Mid La Union Campus. Thereafter, OCD presented to DMMMSU a Certificate of Recognition for the University’s support and dedication in the realization of the successful drill towards building a Safer and Disaster Resilient Community.

In the same venue, the OCD also provided the University with its prompt feedback and recommendations focused on more efficient information and communication technologies and medical facilities.

DMMMSU received three megaphones from OCD to strengthen its disaster management.

OCD encourages the public to join the conduct of the NSED as part of the preparations for the “Big One,” a possible magnitude 7.2 earthquake that may be triggered by a movement in the West Valley Fault.

The Fourth Quarter NSED 2024 is scheduled on November 14, 2024.
