The Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University – North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) National Service Training Program (NSTP), in collaboration with the Philippine National Police (PNP) Bacnotan, organized a seminar on Drug Awareness, Prevention, and Anti-Terrorism at the Ortega Memorial Center on September 21, 2024.
Participants were briefed on Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002), the drug menace, controlled substances, and the crucial role of the youth in drug prevention and detection. The discussion also delved into anti-terrorism, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in identifying and preventing terrorist activities while fostering community resilience.
Resource speakers from the PNP Bacnotan, including PMAJ Ariel V. Saltin, Acting Chief of Police of Bacnotan, Pat. Khalil Gibran D. Waggay, PCpl. Mary N. Ann Pineda, and Pat. Johnuel D. Villano. PMAJ Saltin shared their expertise on the topics. In his message, PMAJ Saltin underscored the urgency of addressing the country’s drug problem and encouraged the youth to actively participate in the fight against illegal drugs. (By RMV)
