The DMMMSU Arnis Team, coached by Dr. Rissa A. Banaña, sustained their winning streak after clinching the overall championship trophy at the 5th Leg of the 2024 Pro-Active Arnis Tournament held at Robinsons Calasiao, Pangasinan, on September 14, 2024.

The team secured a total of 14 gold, 9 silver, and 10 bronze medals.

Among the medalists in the men’s division were Justin Jerzel Soliven (BSN1) with 2 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals; Shem B. Anniban (BSCS 1) with 3 gold medals; Albe Christian Marzan (BAEL 3)  with 1 gold; Ken John Allen Villedo  (BPEd 1) with 1 gold and 1 bronze; Angelo R. Apelado (BSFil 1) with 1 silver and 1 bronze medals; Jensen Capinpin (BSEd 1) with 2 silver medals; Caleb Red Rosario (BSEd 1) with  1 gold and 1 silver medal; Edwin Bugayong (BSEd 1) with 1 gold and 1 bronze medals; and Gilbert Esparagoza Jr. (BPEd 2) earned 1 bronze medal.

Meanwhile, the women’s division also accumulated 5 gold and 4 bronze medals. Among them were Yesha Mary Margareth Molano (BAEL 2) and Aubrey Ellaine Bascos (BS Psych 4) who both earned a gold and a bronze medal; Angelica Rose Apelado (BAEL 4), 2 gold medals; Justin Angel Egar (BPEd 1), 1 gold and 1 bronze; and Jeramae Paiste (BSEd 1), 1 bronze medal.

The DMMMSU Arnis Team’s dominance at Pro-Active Arnis tournament further solidified their standing as one of the top Arnis teams in the region.

The said tournament was organized by Pro-Active and Philippine Eskrima Kali Arnis Federation (PEKAF) Region 3 headed by Guro Joel Madrona. (by John Mark Lachica)
