DMMMSU Open University System (DOUS) conducted a three-day training on “Accounting for Non-Accountants” at the DOUS Multi-purpose Hall from April 16 to 19, 2024. This program was designed for non-accounting graduates working in accounting offices across various government and private sectors, including business owners and educators handling accounting subjects.


The training aimed to provide the participants with essential knowledge in accounting, tailored for those without a formal background in the discipline. The course covered the fundamental nature, functions, scope, and limitations of accounting, emphasizing basic accounting concepts and bookkeeping practices. Participants were introduced to accounting principles relevant to service and merchandising enterprises, focusing on sole proprietorships.


This training was a key component of DOUS’s Continuing Professional Education program, led by Dr. Romeo C. Opeña Jr., the Training Chief. The program featured a team of esteemed learning service providers, including Assistant Regional Director Ryan A. Milanes, a Certified Public Accountant from the Department of Budget and Management Region 1, Atty. Albert F. Padilla, also a CPA from the Provincial Government of La Union, and Atty. Abdul Rahim G. Acoon, CPA, from the Bureau of Internal Revenue, all of whom are highly experienced and knowledgeable in their respective fields.
