To live by its mantra, “Innovate, Protect, Commercialize,” the Innovation and Technology Commercialization Office (ITCO), headed by Director Victoria N. Malaya, conducted training and workshop for patent search and drafting to the heads of ITO across the six units of the University and 27 MLUC faculty members at DMMMSU-Mid La Union Campus College of Engineering Library on July 24, 29, and 30, 2024.
The three-day workshop was set to encourage the faculty members and staff to conduct research for Intellectual Property (IP) registration for production, licensing agreement, and adoption. Participants engaged in patent search, drafting and processing; and identification and collection of patentable technologies.
Engr. Emmanuel Mendoza, Intellectual Property Rights Specialist V of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL), discussed the IP laws and patent drafting and processing. Participants produced Prior Art Search (PAS) Reports and patent drafts of inventions to be prepared for IPOPHIL registration application as outputs for the said event.
