The Bachelor of Technology Education (BTLEd) of the College of Education (SLUC) facilitated food processing training at the Food Processing Laboratory of the College of Fisheries and the Laboratory High School Food Laboratory on July 27 and July 28, 2024, respectively,  to share collaborative extension projects.

Led by the Campus extension services office, BTLEd, through their Skills Training Initiatives in Technology for Community and Home Economics (STITCH) project, featured research products such as Gracilaria steamed cake (puto) and siomai enriched with bangus bone powder. Thirteen Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) teachers from various schools in La Union and Pangasinan participated in the training.

Dr. Veronica B. Carbonell spearheaded the event along with Subject Matter Specialists Ms. Dianne A. Aquino, Ms. Edna S. Aloot, Ms. Frejie S. Pacudan, and Ms. Julieta B. Munar. The conduct of the training was initiated and organized by SLUC Extension Office.

Since its inception in 2022, BTLed, through their Project STITCH, has addressed food processing needs for various stakeholders, including teachers, youth, coastal women, and Alternative Learning Systems students. (By Ronald Bustos)
