DMMMSU – CCHAMS faculty members namely Margie F. Doctolero, and Melisa M. Aday, along with Majgar G. Mabalot, Maureen Fe N. Campanado, and Ana Mae A. Herreira, practicing midwives in DOH, ITRMC, and Pugo Municipal Health Office, respectively, secured first place in the Oral Presentation – Professional Category during the 2024 Region 1 Health Research and Development Consortium Research Conference, held at Virgen Milagrosa University Foundation in San Carlos City, Pangasinan on June 21, 2024. They were mentored by Dr. Joel C. Estacio, Chairman of DMMMSU Research Ethics.
The researchers presented their study, titled “Effectiveness of Health Education to Improve Knowledge and Practices on Oral Health During Pregnancy: A Randomized Intervention Study.” In their study, they assessed the impact of health education on enhancing knowledge and practices related to oral health among pregnant women in selected areas in La Union.
Furthermore, two research studies from DMMMSU BS Nursing students were also presented.
Czarlo James M. Daclan presented the research titled “Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices toward Research Ethics among Researchers of DMMMSU-SLUC.” His co-authors are Frecel Dianne E. Carbonnell, Lovely V. De Vera, Karen Joyce M. Estacio, Andrea Ramos, Arielle Jade G. Rizalvo, and Ruth Joy B. Servania. Dr. Joel C. Estacio is their adviser.
Also, Claire S. Omiles presented her group’s study titled “Development of Reprolearn to Provide Reproductive Health among Adolescents in Agoo, La Union.” His co-authors are Laine Keith V. Minimirito, Carla Mae L. Panergo, Geraldine T. Rivera, Krystal Lhyn M. Tactay, and Flora Mae Vallejo. They were mentored by Ms. Jima J. Mamungay.
Prof. Kenneth G. Bayani, Director for Research, Mr. Jovencio M. Milan, Jr., CCHAMS Quality Assurance Facilitator, and Mr. Jonathan C. Clata, CCHAMS Research Focal Person, were among the attendees at the conference.
The Research Conference serves as a platform for researchers, healthcare professionals, and stakeholders in the field of research to exchange insights and contribute to advancing quality healthcare.
