Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University South La Union Campus (DMMMSU-SLUC) conducted its graduation ceremony yesterday, June 24, 2024, at the JDA Hall. The event was divided into two sessions to accommodate the graduates from various colleges.

In the morning session, graduates from the College of Education, College of Graduate Studies, and College of Agriculture were honored. Norlyn Ann D. Reyes and Rosemarie Garcia, both recent topnotchers in the licensure exam for teachers and graduates from previous years, were also present. They received a P10,000 incentive each and served as an inspiration to the fresh graduates.

The afternoon session celebrated the graduates from the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Fisheries, College of Computer Science, and College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences. During this session, Dr. Manuel presented Jenyfer P. Lopez, a topnotcher from the College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences, with a similar incentive.

This year, DMMMSU SLUC produced 1,431 college graduates, including two magna cum laude and 107 cum laude.

Dr. Manuel urged the graduates to express their gratitude to their families, teachers, the university, and the government for the support and provision of free higher education. He emphasized the importance of giving back and contributing positively to society.

Addressing the graduates, Dr. Manuel encouraged them to excel in their respective board exams, promising additional incentives for topnotchers. He promised to seek the approval of the Board of Regents to award P100,000 for those who rank first in the board examinations, with corresponding cash awards for ranks 2 to 10.

“I challenge each of you to excel in your licensure exams as a way to honor and repay the sacrifices your parents and guardians have made for you,” Dr. Manuel emphasized.

The ceremony concluded with the graduates taking a solemn oath, marking their transition into the ranks of DMMMSU alumni.
