Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-North La Union Campus (DMMMSU-NLUC) extension unit conducted a training program on June 3–5, 2024. The program aimed to equip faculty members with the necessary skills in planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating extension initiatives.

Dr. Almira G. Magcawas, Vice President for Planning and Development at Cavite State University (CavSU), served as the resource speaker. She discussed key considerations in crafting Research, Development, and Extension (RDE) agenda, introduced the concept and importance of extension, and provided training on assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of extension projects.

In their workshop, the participants presented extension project proposals. These proposals were developed using the concepts and tools they had acquired during the training. During the presentations, Dr. Magcawas and Dr. Racquel Agustin, CavSU Extension Director, provided in-depth feedback and recommendations on their proposals.

On the third day, the participants applied the concepts and tools they had acquired to develop extension project proposals. They designed the proposals to align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the university’s program offerings, and the needs of communities and stakeholders.

The training is part of DMMMSU-NLUC’s efforts to strengthen the capabilities of faculty members in conceptualizing and implementing relevant, sustainable extension programs. (By Krizia Ann E. Ramirez)
