DMMMSU faculty members Prof. Maria Jeseca C. Baculo and Prof. Charlie S. Marzan from the College of Computer Science were recognized as the Best Presenters during the 2024 10th International Conference on Computer Technology Applications (ICCTA 2024), held in Vienna, Austria on May 15-17, 2024.

Prof. Baculo presented her study titled Image-based Mangifera Indica Pathogen Recognition using Artificial Intelligence, which she co-authored with Profs. Floribeth P. Cuison and Prof. Nema Rose D. Rivera. They identified the five surface defects in Mangifera Indica, a type of mango that has a significant global export value, using object detection frameworks to maintain its export quality.

Meanwhile, Prof. Marzan presented his study titled Deep Learning-Assisted Milkfish Fingerling Counting: Towards Automation in Fish Industry Practices, which he collaborated with his students, namely Christian Jose Sibayan, Benjie R. Abando, and Johnico D. Madrejilos. They utilized the deep learning approach for the real-time counting of milkfish fingerlings, promising significant advancements in the automation and efficiency of fishery management practices.

The ICCTA is an annual event where researchers from the academe, industry, and government institutions share their research findings on communication and network security.  (By Aniway Millares)
