Engr. Roy Laquidan, NLUC Head for Institutional Planning and Futures Thinking and faculty member of the Institute of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering, went to Singapore as a grantee-participant in the Cross-Visits to HEIs in SEAMEO Member Countries – Singapore Keg of the SEARCA under the CHED project titled Levelling Up Philippine Higher Education Institutions in Agriculture, Fisheries and Natural Resources (LevelUPHEI AFAR) on November 13 to 17, 2023.
The journey commenced with a visit to Singapore Management University (SMU), renowned for its innovative curriculum and commitment to producing forward-thinking leaders. Participants engaged in interactive sessions, campus tours, and discussions with faculty members, gaining perceptions of SMU’s academic approach and its role in shaping future leaders. The program’s second day was exploring the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Republic Polytechnic. The culmination of the program took place on the third day with a Synthesis Workshop hosted at THF.
As the LevelUP HEIAFAR project takes root, CHED aims to upgrade the institutional capacities of the State Universities and Colleges – Association of College of Agriculture in the Philippines, Inc.(SUC – ACAP, Inc.). (By Rochelle Verganio)
