CHED-RO1 confers DMMMSU Kawayan Ensemble Raniag Award, in recognition of the group’s efforts in promoting cultural excellence through world-class artistic performances — dance, theater, and music. The awarding ceremony was held at Vigan City Convention Center on November 8, 2023. This was part of the Culture and Arts Trainers and Instructors Summit (CATIS), attended by different private and public institutions in the Ilocos Region.
CHED merited DMMMSU Kawayan Ensemble’s for its efforts in attaining artistic excellence and cultural enrichment with its outstanding contributions and achievements. The group is recognized as a beacon of cultural preservation and expression under the performing arts category. This prestigious accolade stands as a testament to the group’s sustained endeavors in promoting and safeguarding the rich heritage of Region I.
The DMMMSU Kawayan Ensemble comprises students of the Bachelor for Culture and Arts Education (BCAED) and is conducted by one of its faculty members, Mr. Vince JB C. Dacanay, its resident music arranger and trainer. The ensemble is based in the South La Union Campus and is a recognized laboratory group under BCAED and the College of Education.
Other performing groups and awardees from the Region include St. Louis College Chorale, MSU Teatro Normal, Northwestern University Saguday Chorale, UNP Danggay Saririt Cultural Dance Troupe, and ISPSC Linglingay Cultural Dance Troupe.
