The South La Union Campus takes part in the university’s welcoming students and teachers from the Association of Private Colleges of Technology and Vocational Education of Thailand (PVET) for the 2023 edition of the Sawasdee to Hello ASEAN Summer Camp.

The summer boot campers were warmly welcomed by the Laboratory High School of the College of Education led by the Dean, Dr. Nona M. Rivera, the Principal, Prof. Jan Kenneth R. Laguardia, and high school faculty, and students. Thai students were delighted by student presentations on spoken word poetry, ‘filminute’ (one-minute films), and dancesport by talented high school students. A walking exhibit followed the opening program which featured LHS’ offices, publication and broadcasting process, student projects, and a reading area.

In the afternoon, the Thai delegation was toured to the Colleges of Fisheries and Agriculture by the Deans, Dr. Faith M. Tadeo and Dr. Gaudelia M. Villanueva. They were showed the colleges’ facilities, actual classes, laboratories, Mangrove area and fishponds in the Sto. Tomas campus, and plantations of banana, papaya, and corn in the Rosario campus. The tour ended at the LG Agri-Tourism Farm and Resort in Barangay Amlang, Rosario, La Union.

In his message during the opening program, Campus Head for Internationalization and Linkages, Ronald Bustos, who represented Chancellor Joanne C. Rivera, emphasized the summer camp’s symbolic importance to DMMMSU-SLUC. “The South La Union Campus has always had a profound connection with Thailand with our rich history of collaborations that date back to 2015 and we are happy that the Sawasdee to Hello has become DMMMSU’s brand on its partnerships with Thai schools up to this day,” he said.
