Delegates from the Association of Private Colleges of Technology and Vocational Education of Thailand (PVET) recently visited Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University-South La Union Campus (DMMMSU SLUC) Laboratory High School (LHS) as part of the Sawasdee to Hello: ASEAN Summer Camp 2023 program. The program is aimed at promoting cultural exchange and immersion between the Philippines and Thailand to foster a network of young leaders who can work together towards a sustainable future and to promote goodwill and mutual understanding among ASEAN member countries.
The delegates were warmly welcomed by Dr. Nona M. Rivera, the College of Education Dean, who encouraged the visitors to fully immerse themselves in the experience and learn about the culture, traditions, and way of life of the Philippines. The SLUC administrators, along with the LHS Principal, Prof. Jan Kenneth Laguardia, and the LHS faculty members and staff, also received the delegates with a welcome program that showcased the various talents of the students, including dance sports, spoken poetry, and film minutes which were made by the students.
During their visit, the delegates were given a room-to-room tour of the LHS, where they witnessed various outputs of the LHS students, such as projects of the Student Body Organization, Campus Publication, and other class projects.
The Sawasdee to Hello: ASEAN Summer Camp 2023 program includes interactive language workshops, language on foot sessions, cultural immersions, traditional garments, design and fashion shows, ASEAN cook fest, poetry-making and reading, Philippine indigenous dances, traditional sports, and recreation, which will run from March 13 to April 7, 2023.
