The College of Education of DMMMSU SLUC and the Municipality of Santo Tomas, La Union, agreed to collaborate for the implementation of the extension program called Project STITCH short for Skills Training Initiatives in Technology for Community and Home Economics. The ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement took place on March 10, 2023 with Hon. Severino C. Carbonell, Mayor of the Municipality of Sto. Tomas.

Present during the MOA signing were the College of Education Dean, Dr. Nona M. Rivera, BTLEd Chair Dr. Veronica B. Carbonell, and the BTLEd Faculty members.

Project STITCH aims to update participants on the current trends and development in food processing, baking, and events management, as well as provide knowledge and skills in these areas. Under this Project, DMMMSU will provide technical expertise and will conduct periodic monitoring and evaluation, while the Municipality of Santo Tomas will identify the beneficiaries, provide the venue and technical assistance, and help provide data during monitoring and evaluation. This extension program further promotes community service and outreach and helps to bridge the gap between academic institutions and the community. (by Zander Christopher Mercado)
