DMMMSU Fisheries Research and Training Institute (FRTI) and the College of Fisheries trained 25 members of Women Association based in Bacnotan, La Union on sea salt making and milkfish processing at FRTI, Paraoir, Balaoan, La Union on February 14 to 16, 2023.  The training was made possible through the sponsorship of HOLCIM Philippines Inc.- La Union headed by Engr. Rolando H. Ong (Plant Manager) and Engr. Mathew Joseph Almojuela (CSR and Admin Manager).

Dr. Andie John D. Tadeo trained them on Sea Salt Making; Ms. Marlen T. Bilog on Bangus Deboning; Ms. Danica May A. Lawagan on Basic Packaging, Labeling and Marketing of Products; and Mr. Marvin M. Aquino on Canning of Milkfish.

Resource speaker from Amsterdam, Netherlands, Dr. Dorien DeTombe, also discussed Salt Technology Innovation in La Union: A complex societal problem. Meanwhile, speakers namely  Dr. Dame Ifa Sihombing and Dr. Ruth Mayasari Simanjuntak from Univsersitas HKBP Nommensen, Medan, Indonesia gave lectures on Multicriteria Decision Making as Decision Support System for Salt Agro-Industry Development in La Union.
