Dr. Andie John D. Tadeo, Director for DMMMSU Fisheries Research and Training Institute (FRTI)  along with FRTI personnel namely Alin Sherick Sabiano, Richard N. Rivera, Donna P. Perol, Aisha Anneb, Roger Sibayan, Aurelio Sibayan, Jordan Sibayan pooled efforts together to equip fisherfolk at Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union on January 30 to 31, 2023. They succeeded in upskilling the participants in processing seaweed soap and seaweed pickles, and making sea salt using Geomembrane-High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) food-grade plastic platforms.

The training was sponsored by Inner Wheel Club Central of San Fernando City, La Union headed by its President, Ms. Mency Ann Ancheta. Barangay Officials of Urbiztondo, San Juan, La Union headed by Captain Ericson N. Valdriz, and City Councilor Mariquita “Monet”Ortega were also in support of the said training. (by Ayu)
