In celebration of the 42^nd Founding Anniversary of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU), the University Student Council spearheaded the University Students’ Day Celebration activities with the theme, “DMMMSU@42: Redefining Excellence”, last January 17, 2023, at the Multi-Purpose Hall of DMMMSU North La Union Campus, Bacnotan, La Union.

Participants from the North La Union Campus, the South La Union Campus, the Mid La Union Campus, and the Open University System engaged in different activities that were conducted by the Council, such as Essay Writing Contests in English, Filipino, and Iloko; Digital Poster Making Contest; Spoken Word Poetry Contest; and Inter-Campus Debate Competition.

Five contenders from the four units delivered their pieces in the Spoken Word Poetry Contest, while the Inter-Campus Debate Competition was participated in by debaters from NLUC, MLUC, and SLUC.

The debating teams competed in two qualifying rounds and one winner’s round with topics hand-picked on the spot. Participants in the Essay Writing Contest exhibited their writing skills in their chosen dialects, while entries in the Digital Poster Making Contest were posted on the USC Facebook Page and were conducted via online submission.

USC invited both teaching and non-teaching personnel to serve as members of the juries.
