Besides the University’s major accomplishments, President Manuel also presented his plans for the University.
Asking how the University can continue to grow and thrive in the coming years, President Manuel emphasized that the answer lies in the theme.
“The answer, I believe, lies in our theme “redefining excellence”. This theme captures the spirit of innovation and progress that are essential for us to succeed as an institution — innovation, and progress that are based on the highest forms of standards, international standards. It emphasizes the need for us to constantly seek out new and better ways of doing things, to never be satisfied with the status quo, and to always be open to change and new ideas, to leverage the synergy of diversity and inclusiveness, of connection, cooperation, and collaboration,” he explained.
He went on to say: “This means taking a critical look at our current practices and systems, and asking ourselves how we can improve them. It means being open to continuous improvement, seeking out innovative approaches, being willing to challenge our assumptions and long-held beliefs, taking risks, and rising above mediocre practices and habits that hinder us from achieving greater goals— as an individual, as a unit, as a University.”
“We hope to stay ahead of the curve and continue to excel by constantly rethinking and redesigning our processes and systems. We hope to stay focused on achieving our goals, by making them crystal-clear, by truly understanding them, by knowing how to strategize, by aligning our actions with our goals, and by working relentlessly towards achieving them,” he continued.
After his address, President Manuel took oath for this 2nd Term as University President with Dr. Prospero J. de Vera III, CHED Chairperson, who administered the oath and graced the University Foundation Anniversary Celebration.
During the awards and recognition part of the program, recipients of awards such as Regular Awards; Awards for Board Topnotchers; Special Awards; Research Awards to include Paper Presentations, Research Publications, and Intellectual Property Registrations; and Awards for Benefactors and Past Administrators, were honored.
