DMMMSU, through the Office of Alumni Affairs, in collaboration with Office of Internationalization, Linkages and ETEEAP, successfully conducted the first DMMMSU Alumni World Expo 1.0, with the theme, “What DMMMSU dreams are made of” at the DMMMSU Open University System (OUS) on December 12, 2022.
Ms. Anndra Margareth Parviainen, DMMMSU College of Community Health and Allied Medical Sciences (CCHAMS) alumna and now research consultant at the University of Eastern Finland, presented her lecture on “Staying Global: How International Alumni Relations Advance the DMMMSU Network”.
Dr. Ma. Elena C. Estebal, a Professor from the Technological Institute of the Philippines, shared her thoughts on “Relationship Building: The Key to Alumni Engagement”.
To foster collaboration among DMMMSU alumni with the wider communities in the global regions, the world expo was also designed to adopt the best practices of other institutions to establish the University’s alumni network.
During the panel discussions, DMMMSU invited its alumni to virtually talk on several topics and answered questions from the onsite audience. Dr. Aurora Quinzon, preschool teacher at the Fort Saskatchewan Child Care in Canada; Mr. Nikko D. Madrelijos, Chief, Information Systems—Planning, Development and Project Management Division of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Central Office in Quezon City; Dr. Meljo Z. Apilado, Head of the Students Affairs Services and Cultural Affairs at DMMMSU- OUS; and one from M&A Tokyo in Japan, whose name is withheld for corporate confidentiality policy, served as speakers during the discussions.
Meanwhile, Dr. Lher Verell S. Palabay, Director of Alumni Affairs, conducted a workshop on “Alumni Engagement Strategy: Establishing DMMMSU Alumni Community Across the Globe” among the onsite participants.
The hybrid gathering featured various activities and workshops that were organized by the alumni and internationalization offices, and specifically designed for the alumni and internationalization offices across the operating units of the University. (Jesus Rafael B. Jarata)
