DMMMSU takes pride in producing 9 full-fledged professors who underwent the rigorous accreditation process at the University of Northern Philippines (UNP) in two separate schedules: June 28, 2022 and September 27, 2022.

The following are the nine (9) bravehearts whose voluminous portfolios and credentials underwent an initial screening by the Technical Working Group composed of Chair – Zonal Center Director, and a representative from each SUC in Region 1:

Prof. Eduard M. Albay (SLUC Head for Research),

Prof. Floribeth P. Cuison (former SLUC Chancellor),

Prof. Isidro L. Duran (SLUC CGS Dean),

Prof. Paulito C. Nisperos (MLUC CGS Dean),

Prof. Nora A. Oredina (NLUC College of Education Dean),

Prof. Precelita L. Osillos (former SLUC BS Biology Program Chair),

Prof. Nona M. Rivera (SLUC College of Education Dean),

Prof. Melda M. Uychoco (former SLUC Head for Instruction), and

Prof. Maricon C. Viduya (University Information Officer)

To be accorded the well-sought title “full-fledged professor” in a State University/College, candidates are subjected to the assessment of recognized authorities in their respective disciplines based on the NBC 461 Guidelines, the specific criteria approved by Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC), and DBM-CHED Joint Circular No. 1, series of 2022.

The following are the criteria used as a guide in rating the candidates:

  • Research output and publications in refereed or CHED accredited journal or PASUC recognized agencies, registered creative works or technology or patent and/or inventions (30%)
  • Depth and breadth of area of expertise (30%)
  • Communication skills/articulation of conceptual ideas (10%)
  • General knowledge/current issues/general issues (10%)
  • Leadership potential/ability to influence people (10%)
  • Intellectual maturity and objectivity in judgment (10%)

Written examination, where candidates have to develop five topics in 30 minutes, and interview with a panel of experts are also part of the accreditation process.

Results of accreditation conducted by the Regional Accreditation Committee (RAC) are forwarded to the National Accreditation Committee (NAC) for confirmation. RAC is composed of Zonal Center President, PASUC 1 President, CHED Regional Director and 3 specialists (on the discipline of the candidate) outside of the region; whereas NAC is composed of PASUC President and 3 SUC Presidents.

As for their part, the new professors wish to extend their appreciation to the University and Campus Officials, the Members of the NBC 461 Evaluation and Review Committees, the Faculty Associations both in the Campus and the University levels, and the University President, Dr. Jaime I. Manuel, Jr. — all who have been supportive of their academic undertaking. As a gesture of support, the University also paid for their accreditation fee amounting to P10, 000 each.

Along with the other faculty members who have been promoted in the 8th cycle of NBC 461, covering the period July 1, 2016 to June 30, 2019, the promotion of these 9 full-fledged professors have already been approved by DMMMSU Board of Regents. Moreover, all required documents such as the final print out, result of the professorial accreditation, and Board approval have already been submitted to the Department of Budget and Management Regional Office for the NOSCA.
