DUMAGUETE CITY, Negros Oriental- New faces and talents were breaking through and debuting their skills on the archery cup stage. After a rough morning due to heavy rainfall, April 30, 2022, Shanylle Samson, 17 and Grade 12 student in the Laboratory High School of NLUC, took the field and seeded 5th in the Recurve U21 (Women) category which qualified her to the Olympic round. Later that same day, Samson returned with another blow in the Open Recurve (Women) which landed her on the 10th place in the qualifying round beating more than 10 archers competing in the same category with a score of 490 out of 720 points.

The 18 year-old athlete showed her tan lines and jokingly said, “I am proud of my tan lines because I have been working hard to get them. It’s also a good thing I already had my graduation picture before this.”

May 01, 2021, the following day, Samson made a strong run finishing 4th in the finals of the Olympic round of Recurve U21 (Women).

“I will work hard to prepare for the upcoming competition this June, and come back stronger for the Gold Medal,” Shanylle promised. “Likewise, I would like to thank Coach Jigger Patacsil for helping me grow stronger and aim higher, and for always bringing out the best in me.” Leg 3 of this Archery Cup is scheduled to be held on the month of June of this year.
