DMMMSU Institute of Environmental Governance (IEG) together with Tanggol Kalikasan Inc. organized a Round Table Discussion (RTD) on the Protection of Lingayen Gulf. This was held at the Conference Hall of the Central Administration Building on March 31, 2022.  

During the RTD, the participants described the state of Lingayen Gulf based on their assessments, observations and or program implementation. Challenges on the Lingayen Gulf with respect to law enforcement, resource management, policy, governance, and participation were also discussed during the activity. Further, the participants identified and recommended actions to strengthen the protection of Lingayen Gulf.

The event was participated in by representatives from the DA -Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources RO 1 (BFAR), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) RO1, Provincial Government of La Union (represented by Sir Toby Tamayo), DENR Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office La Union, Pangasinan State University IEG Center, Mr. Carlos L Tamayo of SIFcare CURMA, the Municipal Government of Bacnotan (represented by Dr. Divinagracia Apigo), and IEG Faculty Trainers.

The RTD was facilitated by Atty. Ronely Bizquerra-Sheen, Executive Director of Tanggol Kalikasan and concurrently the In-Country Coordinator of US DOI-ITAP and Ms. Jaemy Villanueva of TK. Atty. Asis G. Perez, TK Senior Legal Adviser and Dir. Kelia Cummins of US Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs of US Embassy Manila were also present during the activity. (Celso H. Jucutan)
