Four faculty members from the Mid La Union Campus – College of Education are tapped to teach English language to Thai nationals via the Basic English Short Course offered to Chonburi Technological College on March 14 to April 7, 2022.

The short course, which will run for eight sessions, will have Dr. Dyan T. Abulaban, Dr. Cristina B. Baliton, Ms. G-Yan D. Mamuyac and Mr. Arjie C. Rivera as the learning service providers.

Dr. Abulaban is an active and award-winning coach in extemporaneous and public speaking contests in the national and regional level. She has also published a book on reading. Mr. Rivera, on the other hand, has won various public speaking competitions in the Philippines, and has co-designed the Public Speaking and Debate Congress which helped round leaders improve their skills in speech communication for effective leadership.

Titled as the Basic English Speaking Class for Beginners, the course will introduce the basic expressions and concepts in the English language, and is designed to teach CTC teachers how to communicate effectively in different social contexts and real-life situations. It also aims to improve fluency through regular practice and interactive speaking drills.

The last day is allotted for practical application exam— which includes simulations and oral exercises.

This program is part of the collaborative exchanges DMMMSU and CTC will be implementing starting this year until the memorandum of agreement expires after five years.
