AGOO, LA UNION – The Segden Silnag-Biag Organization, composed BSEd Social Studies students and teachers from the College of Education-SLUC celebrated National Women’s Month 2025 with the theme Filipina iti amin nga Benneg: Panagdur-as iti Baro nga Pilipinas. Held from March 19 to 20, the event was also joined in by students from high schools in La Union and Pangasinan.
The celebration featured an Advocacy Seminar led by Atty. Honorio G. Buccat Jr., Dean of the DMMMSU College of Law, who, along with law students, facilitated discussions on women’s legal rights and empowerment.
A series of competitions showcased students’ advocacy and artistic talents. In the Skit & Simulation Contest, Tanglag National High School secured the championship, followed by Amlang-Nagtagaan, Sto. Tomas, and Aringay National High Schools. In the Vocal Solo Contest, Crystal Mae Paguel of Rosario Integrated School was the champion, with Ella L. Posadas and Jamella Rovie M. Alambra earning second and third places, respectively.
In the Poster-Making Contest, John Carlvie Quiros from Lobong National High School was the champion, while Lexus D. Abando and Natazha Vhien D. Ferrer placed second and third. In the Essay Writing Competition, the contestant from Sto. Tomas National High School won in the Iloko Category while the contestant from Lobong National High School won in the Pangasinan Category.
The second day commenced with an Advocacy Parade aimed at raising awareness of gender equality and women’s rights. The Vocal Solo Competition featured performances of Regine Velasquez’s empowering anthem, “Babae Ako.” The event culminated in Miss Lakambini 2025, a historical tribute honoring Filipinas who have made significant contributions across various fields.
The celebration reaffirmed the resilience and achievements of Filipinas, reinforcing the ongoing pursuit of gender equality and women’s empowerment.
