Dr. Tjaart Jan B. Estrada, CGS Dean, delivered the Opening Message, emphasizing that the activity aligns with the University’s philosophy – total human development with appropriate competencies – as the activities prepared for the day cater to not only the academic but also the health and wellness, and social needs of the students.
Dr. Jomar L. Aban, Director for R&E Publications and IEC Materials Development led the training workshop on the NEW SOP ISO for Publication and Conversion of TRs to Publishable Journal Articles. The session provided graduate students with practical strategies for enhancing their research outputs, increasing their chances of publishing papers in reputable journals.
Meanwhile, Ms. Cecilia Sanchez, Administrative Officer IV, facilitated the session on Empowering Equity: Understanding and Upholding Women’s Workplace Rights. Participants expressed a deeper awareness of gender rights and their role in fostering equitable work environments.
In the morning, concurrently with the student orientation regarding journal publication, the female faculty members were afforded a moment of curated respite. CGS, through its GAD Office, headed by Dr. Janice Rhea Cabacungan, facilitated complimentary manicures, pedicures, foot spas, and massages for the Professors. Furthermore, the graduate student body benefited from accessible healthcare provisions, with free medical consultations extended by the Health and Medical Unit, led by SLUC Physician Dr. Charlotte Mildred Marceline S. Asuncion.
In the afternoon, Prof. Maria Elena Milan, CGA SAS Facilitator, spearheaded the team-building activities and games. These activities aimed to strengthen camaraderie among graduate students, encouraging collaboration and effective communication.
