Four researchers from Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) participated in the 2025 Annual Scientific Conference and 92nd General Membership Assembly of the Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City on March 13, 2025.

With the theme “Science, Technology, Social Innovation, and Human Capital in Global Challenges,” the conference highlighted the role of research and innovation in addressing global issues.

Three DMMMSU researchers were inducted as new associate members of the NRCP: For. Jay Mark G. Cortado from the College of Agroforestry and Forestry, Mr. Ison A. Calimpang from the College of Agriculture, and Ms. Dianne A. Peralta from the Office of the University Research and Development Innovation. They were joined by Dr. Elizabeth Obra of the Sericulture Research and Development Institute (SRDI), who is already an associate member of the council.

NRCP, an attached agency of DOST, serves as an advisory and funding institution committed to advancing research across multiple disciplines. It provides research grants, fosters knowledge-sharing, and contributes to national development through scientific and technological innovation.

As newly inducted members, the DMMMSU researchers will have access to funding opportunities, networking with experts and policymakers, and participation in policy recommendations. They are expected to engage in research and development activities, support scientific initiatives, establish linkages with local and international organizations, and contribute to the promotion of a robust scientific and technological culture in the country.
