Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University Open University System (DOUS) launched the first phase of “Module Mastery: Crafting Excellence through Module Writing and Content Editing” at the DOUS Multi-purpose Hall on February 26, 2025. The training aimed to enhance the quality of instructional materials and ensure high academic standards in distance learning.
Ms. Claire F. Pascua, Head of the Library and Instructional Materials Development, and Dr. Luzviminda F. Salamanca, Head of Instruction, spearheaded the program. Dr. Bernardo D. Lamadrid, DOUS Executive Director, delivered the welcome remarks, emphasizing the importance of well-structured learning materials in effective distance education delivery.
Ms. Pascua provided an in-depth discussion on the DOUS module format and procedural guidelines, giving participants a clear framework for developing instructional materials aligned with university standards.
Dr. Juan Robertino D. Macalde, Manager of the Learning and Development and Management Office at SEAMEO Innotech, served as the keynote speaker, sharing best practices in module creation and content editing. His session focused on strategies to ensure clarity, coherence, and effectiveness in instructional materials.
Prof. Ces Myra P. Mabalot led a discussion on integrating gender perspectives in academic module design. She emphasized the importance of inclusive and gender-sensitive content to promote equity in education.The training equipped the faculty members with essential skills in content creation and editing to enhance the quality of learning materials for students.
