The Project R.E.A.D.S. (Reading Education Across Diverse Subjects), an initiative undertaken by the DMMMSU-South La Union Campus, College of Education (CE) at Pugo Central National High School (PCNHS), officially concluded on February 19, 2025.

This project was designed to enhance reading education. It consisted of eight instructional sessions featuring experts from four academic programs: Bachelor of Secondary Education, Bachelor of Technology and Livelihood Education, Bachelor of Culture and Arts Education, and Bachelor of Physical Education. A total of 45 educators participated in the training and upskilling on reading education strategies, facilitated by CE faculty members and students, who provided practical tutorials for PCNHS learners.
This initiative was prompted by a request from PCNHS Principal Ross U. Rivera and coordinated with CE Dean Dr. Nona M. Rivera. Former College Secretary Mr. Renz E. Ferrera led the training design for the project.
Project R.E.A.D.S. effectively integrated reading education with diverse subjects, including mathematics, science, history, and workplace literacy, while incorporating insights from research conducted by Dr. Jefferson D. Isidro and Dr. Arnie G. Dizon. Faculty members who contributed to this initiative included Prof. Abelynn T. Llareanas, Dr. John Mark G. Lachica, Dr. Ryan L. Cerveza, Dr. Veronica B. Carbonell, Prof. Renan N. Flores, Dr. Jocelyn A. Floresca, Dr. Rodelio V. Indong, Prof. Myrna O. Acas, Prof. Jan Kenneth R. Laguardia, Dr. John Noel S. Nisperos, Prof. Anja Frances L. Masiong, and Prof. Nestor F. Ulpindo. Ms. Reika Andrea R. Coson and Mr. Rodley M. The final session of the project was attended by CE Dean Dr. Rivera, SLUC Extension Head Prof. Ronald B. Bustos, and numerous faculty members.
