The National Apiculture Research, Training, and Development Institute (NARTDI) visited West Visayas State University – College of Agriculture and Forestry (WVSU-CAF) in Iloilo on February 27, 2025. The visit aims to assess the feasibility of establishing a beekeeping project in Iloilo in partnership with WVSU. 

NARTDI Executive Director, Dr. Joseph A. Panas and Mr. Arvin C. Tuyan, NARTDI Extension Head, engaged in discussions with WVSU-CAF officials headed by Dr. Joel A. Araquil, Sr., Campus Administrator, along with Dr. Lea Escantilla, Campus Planning Officer; Dr. Anthony Leal, Dean College of Agriculture; and some campus faculty and students. 

Key topics of discussion included the establishment of the WVSU apiary, the acquisition of necessary beekeeping supplies and materials, and the prospective drafting of Memorandum of Agreement for the establishment of WVSU as an apiculture satellite center. The WVSU Campus officials expressed their enthusiasm for this initiative, recognizing its potential to foster research, development and innovation opportunities, and its contribution to the local community as a source of livelihood.
