Representatives from 38 offices at DMMMSU Central Administration attended a comprehensive “Training on Records Management” held at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Open University System on February 21, 2025.

In her welcome remarks, Atty. Kristine Gay B. Balanag, Director for Administration and concurrent Director for Human Resource Management, highlighted the indispensable function of records officers in maintaining institutional memory and ensuring seamless operations.

“Records officers are not merely keepers of documents but human repositories of institutional knowledge,” Balanag stated.

Participants from various offices gained from the comprehensive lectures on records management and archival disposition delivered by Mr. Arturo C. Flores, a seasoned records management professional with 17 years of experience. Mr. Flores captivated his audience with his in-depth knowledge and interactive and anecdotal approaches.  Beyond the lectures, attendees had the opportunity to share personal narratives about records keeping. These narratives underscored the tangible benefits of meticulous documentation, illustrating its positive influence on individual work efficacy and on the lives of those served. Moreover, the participants engaged in workshops and collaborative learning, further enriched by Mr. Flores’s thoughtful feedback and practical tips.

The event concluded with the awarding of certificates and closing remarks by Prof. Lilito D. Gavina, who encouraged the participants to apply what they have learned to help “ensure efficiency, preserve institutional memory, and support the overall success of the University.”

The training, facilitated by Mr. Justine Lester L. Ilagan, Ms. Maevic F. Lachica, and Ms. Blesilda Flores, is part of DMMMSU’s continuous efforts to uphold best practices in records management, promoting systematic and efficient handling of institutional memory. (By Ayu)
