The Library Services and Development (LSD) Heads from various DMMMSU campuses convened for a planning and coordination meeting at the DMMMSU – South La Union Campus (SLUC) Main Library on February 14, 2025, to reinforce institutional efforts in library development, academic support, and innovation in information services.

Dr. Sonia B. Siago, LSD Director, presided over the meeting, which was attended by Dr. Nancy F. Galban, SLUC Head Librarian; Ms. Ruby Lyn C. Narra, Mid La Union Campus (MLUC) Head Librarian; and Ms. Claire F. Pascua, Open University System (OUS) Head Librarian.

The agenda focused on key areas essential for the continuous development and innovation of library services across DMMMSU, including:

  • Operational and Development Plan – The formulation and alignment of strategic plans for library operations and future development initiatives across campuses.
  • Library Innovation – A key focus was streamlining the circulation process through the full functioning and optimization of the Koha Integrated Library System (ILS). The goal is to improve efficiency in cataloging, circulation, and overall resource management across all campuses.
  • Lakasa ti Sirib – Orientation for stakeholders and the rollout of a series of training sessions to enhance information literacy, research competency, and community engagement.
  • DMMMSU Museum – A detailed discussion took place regarding the proposal for the establishment of a DMMMSU Museum, which will be submitted to the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). This proposal highlights the museum’s potential to preserve the university’s cultural heritage, showcase historical research, and enrich the academic experience for students and faculty.

Looking ahead, the LSD team will implement the discussed action plans to ensure that DMMMSU libraries remain at the forefront of innovation and excellence in service delivery.
