Two DMMMSU faculty members have been selected to participate in the “Advanced Short Course on Sustainable Dairy Production Systems for Selected Higher Education Institutions in the Philippines” at Massey University, New Zealand, from December 1 to 15, 2024.

Dr. CF Omar Bernardino D. Domingo, a faculty member from the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM), and Ms. Donna S. Cariaso, from the College of Agriculture (CA), joined other Philippine Higher Education Institution’s (PHEI) participants in this Commission on Higher Education (CHED)-sponsored initiative under the Higher Education Upskilling and Studying for Advancement of Staff and Staff (HUSAY) program.

The short-term training program aimed at deepening participants’ knowledge in sustainable dairy farming practices, advancing the university’s agricultural curricula, and fostering research innovations in dairy science. As CHED scholars, Dr. Domingo and Ms. Cariaso received full coverage of program expenses, including accommodation, transportation, program fees, and incidental costs.

In line with their engagement, the scholars were tasked with developing actionable outcomes, including an action plan to strengthen DMMMSU’s dairy science curriculum, enhance graduate competencies, and improve research results. (By Jesus Rafael B. Jarata)
