Students from the College of Technology (COT) Textile and Fashion Technology (TFT) of DMMMSU-Mid La Union Campus dominated all categories in the “Create Your Fashion: Rampa Tayo Fashion Design Competition,” held at the City of San Fernando Plaza as part of the CREATE initiative by the City Government of San Fernando, La Union on December 16, 2024.
The performances aimed at promoting creativity and innovation within the local fashion industry and develop collaboration among students, faculty, and the community in nurturing a vibrant fashion culture.
In the courtesy call, MLUC Chancellor Dr. Eduardo C. Corpuz commended the delegates for having been able to flaunt the caliber of skills honed by the TFT department, together with Dr. Victorio C. Palabay, College Dean and Dr. Florentina A. Corpuz, BSTFT Chairperson, faculty members namely, Ms. Glenda Nayal, Ms. Joyce Nillosguin, Ms. Fely S. Camarao, Ms. Rosella Alagao, and Mr. Christopher Carreon for their utmost support to the delegates.
The competition featured several categories, with TFT students excelling across the board:
Painted Pants Paired with Tie-Dyed Shirt Category:
• 2nd Runner Up: John Dexter Marquez (3rd year)
• 1st Runner Up: Joel Canayon (4th year)
• Champion: Lawrence Ilagan (3rd year)
Party Dress Category:
• 2nd Runner Up: Margielyn Dumepnas (3rd year)
• 1st Runner Up: Larea Castronuevo (3rd year)
• Champion: Helmut Toledo (3rd year)
Recycled Denim Category:
• 1st Runner Up: Adrian Cliverson Estalilla (3rd year)
• Champion: Joel Canayon (4th year)
Creative Costume Category:
• 2nd Runner Up: Adrian Cliverson Estalilla (3rd year)
• 1st Runner Up: Kyla Diaz (3rd year)
• Champion: Pablito Estrada (3rd year)
With this victory, the TFT Department is inspired to continue exploring new ideas and techniques in fashion design, ensuring that they remain at the forefront of creativity and craftsmanship in the industry.
